Family Quilt Show & Tell events needed. This could be a great community event ! I repair old quilts & get a lot of inquiries for related services, mostly appraisal & do - it - yourself/quilt repair classes. I have written a free resource list for people who inherit an old quilt & don't know what to do with it www.quiltcare.ning.com. Most people would probably not want appraisal services once they saw how many other quilts there are around & how similar & damaged they are. It's taken me years to compile this list, I don't get business from it & it hasn't stopped the people coming for constultations who really want appraisal - so what the old quilts need is for the public to see what other people have & then we can find new homes for those that need it. The list is free online. I offer a free talk to groups & anyone else is welcome to use the list as a jumping off point in offering a talk in their community. You can supplement with local resources.
